uSee’s Forensic Search interface for video investigation

When a security event occurs, every second counts. With intelligent video search and advanced forensic video analysis capabilities, uSee’s Forensic Search is the new way to streamline your video surveillance investigation. It enables you to conduct a detailed search based on object attributes, cutting down the investigation time from minutes to seconds.

What is Forensic Search?

Forensic Search is an advanced investigation feature natively integrated into uSee. Through the brilliant fusion of video analytics and data management, it empowers you to swiftly recognize and sift through objects, individuals, or vehicles, conserving both time and resources at every phase of the investigation.

Read here to discover how you can redefine your security with uSee.

How uSee’s Forensic Search works

The system is designed to minimize investigation time and maximize operational efficiency. You can find answers without knowing everything about the object you’re searching for.

Here’s how:

  • Begin with minimal input: start your search by selecting basic parameters — for example, the camera, and the time range in which you want to find something.
  • Apply precise filters: use intelligent filters to define the object class (e.g., person or vehicle), and refine the results further using metadata attributes like color (e.g., red, white) and type of clothes or vehicles.
  • Analyze instantly: Forensic Search leverages metadata to correlate with actual footage. The system then returns a filtered list of video clips that match the query, eliminating the need to scrub through hours of footage manually.
  • Extract and export: once the relevant object has been identified, you can extract snapshots, export clips, or create an instant event directly from the dashboard.

What makes uSee Forensic Search different from a standard uSee search?

In the traditional Event search within uSee, operators must predefine detection rules and configurations within the system — such as specific object triggers. This approach works well for proactive monitoring but limits investigative flexibility after the fact.

On the other hand, Forensic Search works retrospectively, analyzing metadata continuously recorded by ONVIF M-compliant cameras. This means you can conduct meaningful searches after an incident has occurred, without the need for prior system setup.
