u-Follow

We are excited to announce the launch of a brand new feature on the uSee platform: u-Follow! This innovative tool is set to transform how you monitor and track objects of interest within your security system. You might be asking yourself, what exactly is u-Follow? Allow us to break it down for you.

What is u-Follow?

Imagine an operator monitoring a live feed who spots a suspicious individual or an object moving within a camera’s view. The next step is to continue tracking this target across multiple cameras to ensure continuous monitoring and response. However, finding the next camera in the sequence can be challenging, especially if the operator is not familiar with the exact placement of all cameras.

This is where u-Follow comes into play. u-Follow allows operators to effortlessly track a target across multiple cameras, following a seamless virtual path in mere moments. This not only enhances the efficiency of the monitoring process but also significantly improves the overall security and response times.

How Does u-Follow Work?

To use u-Follow, you need to ensure that at least one sequence is created for it to be present in the layout. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  • First, locate a camera that is part of a created sequence. For the u-Follow button to appear in the video player, ensure the camera is in WebRTC format. Once this is set up, click the u-Follow button.
  • To start following an object of interest, you need to initialize the u-Follow feature. Do this by pressing the u-Follow button, located in the top right corner next to the instant trigger button. You can then use the arrows to follow the object.
  • When you are finished, press the ‘X’ in the video player. If you want to start another sequence, simply press the u-Follow button.

The Benefits of u-Follow

Cost-Effective Solution

One of the standout features of u-Follow is its cost-effectiveness. Unlike traditional PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras, which can be very expensive, u-Follow operates with a lot of camera setups (fisheye cameras are not included though). This means you don’t need to invest in new, costly hardware to take advantage of this powerful feature.

Versatility and Flexibility

u-Follow versatility and flexibility make it a valuable addition to any security setup, providing enhanced tracking capabilities without the need for specialized equipment.

Efficient Monitoring

By eliminating the need for manual camera switching, u-Follow allows operators to maintain their focus on the target, reducing the time and effort required to monitor suspicious activity. This leads to quicker response times and better overall security management.

Use Cases for u-Follow

u-Follow is a versatile tool that can be applied in various settings. Here are some examples:

  • Malls and Retail: Security operators can swiftly follow shoplifters or other suspicious individuals across different store sections, enhancing loss prevention and customer safety.
  • Perimeters: Ideal for large properties where monitoring the boundary is crucial. u-Follow ensures seamless tracking of intruders along the perimeter.
  • Living Estates: Ensure the safety of residential areas by monitoring visitors and detecting suspicious activities as they move through different zones.
  • Big Sites: Perfect for extensive industrial sites, construction areas, or campuses where monitoring every corner is critical for security and operational efficiency.
